Robert's Memorial Fund
The Euan MacDonald Centre is a research centre within The University of Edinburgh. They helped Robert and many other patients living with Motor Neurone Disease with the latest technology and clinical care through their research into the illness. The mission is simple – improve the lives of people living with MND. The centre currently has over 100 scientists and clinical academics across Scotland, and they work on fundamental discovery studies targeting new treatments as well as a growing portfolio of patient-centred projects such as improving communication aids, such as voice banks and text-to-speech software. Motor Neurone Disease is a debilitating neurological condition that results in the degeneration of motor nerves in the brain and spinal cord. It leads to muscle weakness, loss of mobility and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing. Currently there is no cure or effective treatment. After Robert's passing, all fundraisers have been set up to go through the Robert Ferguson Paulley Memorial Fund for MND Research, in an effort to find comfort, and ultimately a cure to the disease.
