About This Poem

Music:

I remember a night
When the stars shone so bright
That they lit up your face all electric,
We were down by the Clyde
Where the water is wide
And you said you always liked an eccentric.

We went on to a bar
Where a man played guitar
And we sang to the songs he was playing,
With our throats never dry
And a gleam in our eye
There was more than the music a swaying.

While he cried out the blues
We both studied our shoes
And I glimpsed at your soul as I listened,
It was white like a swan
Shone as bright as the dawn
And it blinded my glance as it glistened.

When we made our way home
My mind started to roam
And you asked me just what I was thinking,
With two answers in mind
Of the opposite kind
I chose the easy one and felt my heart sinking.

I remember a night
When the stars shone so bright
That they lit up your face all electric,
We were down by the Clyde
Where the water is wide
And you said you always liked an eccentric.
